Giovanni Pelletier Missing Person – A search is ongoing for an 18-year-old, Giovanni Pelletier, who was last seen in Manatee County early on Friday. The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that Pelletier went missing while visiting Florida with his family. The teenager had traveled to the state from North Carolina, spending time in Englewood with relatives before the alarming disappearance occurred.
According to authorities, Pelletier was initially with family members at his grandparents’ house in Englewood. Around 1:30 a.m. on Friday, he left with his cousins and two of their friends to visit family in Brevard County. However, the situation took a troubling turn when Pelletier began acting erratically during the trip. His cousins reported that he got out of the car and walked away near SR-70 in Manatee County, which prompted the authorities’ involvement.
Shelley Croft, a spokesperson for the Tampa Bay area search group “We Are The Essentials,” shared additional details, emphasizing that Pelletier had been picked up by his cousin and two friends from the Mims area. The group was en route to Brevard County when Pelletier’s behavior became concerning. According to Croft, Pelletier’s mother received a chilling text message from her son about 20 minutes after he was picked up. The text read, “Help me, Mom,” and since then, Pelletier has not been seen or heard from.
The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office, along with other local authorities, has been working tirelessly to piece together the sequence of events. They reported that Pelletier had a “Find my iPhone” feature on his phone, allowing his mother to track his backpack after the incident. The device showed that the backpack was located along I-75 near SR-70, close to where he had been last seen.
“We Are The Essentials” has been actively assisting in the search and is urging anyone who may have been in the I-75 corridor, from Charlotte County to Manatee County, to review dash camera or security footage from the early hours of Friday. This footage could be crucial in shedding light on Pelletier’s whereabouts and what transpired after he reportedly left the car. Croft emphasized that the goal of their search is clear: “Our goal here is to find Giovanni.”
In addition to local law enforcement, the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office has joined the investigation, with a dedicated search effort ongoing in Brevard County. The Pelletier family is desperate for answers, and law enforcement agencies have been flooded with tips from the public. However, the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office is advising individuals with potential information to report tips to their local agency first for proper verification.
The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are continuing their efforts to locate Pelletier. Anyone with information regarding his whereabouts is encouraged to contact the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office or their local agency. As of now, Pelletier remains missing, and authorities are working hard to bring him home safely.
For updates or tips, the public is urged to stay in touch with local law enforcement and to assist in any way possible to help locate the missing teen.
