Chris Stansik Death – It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Chris Stansik, a cherished former student-athlete and proud alumnus of Adrian College. Chris passed away this past week, leaving behind a legacy that will forever resonate within the Adrian College community, his teammates, family, and friends. His life and career reflected not only exceptional athletic achievement but also the character and spirit of a true Bulldog.
Chris Stansik was a standout defenseman for the Adrian College Bulldogs and a proud member of the class of 2012. During his time on the ice, he distinguished himself as one of the program’s most accomplished players. A two-time All-American and four-time All-Conference selection, Chris’s accolades speak to his extraordinary talent, dedication, and leadership both on and off the ice. His commitment to excellence was evident in every game, practice, and interaction, leaving a lasting impression on coaches, teammates, and fans alike.
A historic figure in the Bulldogs’ hockey history, Chris etched his name into the record books on October 15, 2007, when he scored the very first goal in Adrian College men’s hockey history, helping secure a 9-2 victory over SUNY Potsdam. This milestone was only the beginning of a stellar collegiate career. Over 113 games, Chris accumulated an impressive 135 points—a remarkable achievement for a defenseman. In his senior year, he served as Co-Captain, earning the respect and admiration of those around him through his leadership and unwavering dedication.
In recognition of his remarkable contributions to Adrian College athletics, Chris was inducted into the Adrian College Athletic Hall of Fame in 2024. This honor serves as a testament to his enduring impact on the program and the institution as a whole. Beyond statistics and awards, Chris’s legacy is defined by his sportsmanship, his encouragement of teammates, and his role as a mentor for future generations of Bulldog athletes.
Off the ice, Chris was known for his warm personality, strong work ethic, and loyalty to friends and family. Those who knew him describe a man who led by example, uplifted those around him, and embodied the values of resilience, compassion, and integrity. His presence was a source of inspiration and joy for all who crossed his path.
A viewing and funeral mass to honor Chris’s life will be held on Thursday, September 4, at St. Alphonsus Church, 7455 Calhoun St., Dearborn, MI 48126. The viewing will take place from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., followed immediately by the funeral mass.
The Adrian College community mourns the loss of one of its most distinguished alumni. Chris Stansik will be remembered not only for his historic accomplishments and leadership on the ice but also for the kindness, humility, and heart he shared with all.
