Barbara Shaw (Formerly of Skewen) Death – It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Barbara Shaw, formerly of Skewen, who peacefully departed this life on Tuesday, 19th August 2025, at Trem Y Glyn Residential Home, aged 97 years. Surrounded by her loving family and supported by the dedicated and compassionate carers at the home, Barbara’s final moments were marked by serenity and dignity.
Barbara was a devoted wife to the late Stan and a cornerstone of love and strength for her family. She was a much-loved mother to Steven, Robert, Janette, and Gillian, and a cherished grandmother and great-grandmother. Her family was at the heart of her life, and the deep bonds she nurtured will leave a lasting impression across generations. Those who were fortunate to know her remember her warmth, kindness, and steady grace.
Originally from Skewen, Barbara lived a life defined by quiet resilience, generosity, and compassion. She was a steadfast friend and neighbour, always ready to lend a helping hand or a listening ear. Her character reflected a profound dedication to family values, and her life’s work was the love she freely gave to those around her. Barbara’s gentle spirit and unwavering kindness left a mark on everyone she met, creating memories that will be cherished forever.
Beyond her role as a matriarch, Barbara contributed to her community through her nurturing presence and thoughtful nature. Her wisdom and caring guidance were treasured by family, friends, and neighbours alike, ensuring her legacy would endure in both heart and memory. Her home was a place of warmth, laughter, and comfort—a reflection of the generous soul she was.
A funeral service to honour and celebrate Barbara’s life will take place at Margam Crematorium on Friday, 12th September at 12:45pm. Friends, family, and all whose lives were touched by Barbara are warmly invited to attend. The family kindly requests family flowers only, and those wishing to make a tribute may contribute in Barbara’s memory to Cancer Research U.K., supporting a cause close to her heart.
